Every September the Country and Western Music festival is held at the Pavilion gardens.
The Buxton Model Railway Exhibition is held biennially at the Pavilion gardens Exhibition Hall in late June.

Castleton is 5.5 miles from the farm by road. Directions.
Castleton has developed around a square in which a church is set. Part of the existing church was built in the 12th century.
This village has it's origins based the lead mines that were once worked in the surrounding area.
The many points of interest include Peveril Castle, Peak Cavern(one of the most impressive natural caverns in Britain) and the Blue John cavern nearby all of which are worth a visit.

Chapel-en-le-Frith is about 7.5 miles from the farm by road. Directions.
The village was founded round the church which was built by Foresters from the Royal Forest in the 13th Century. There is a Saxon Cross in the churchyard which was brought there from Ollerenshaw.
The cobbled market square is still in existence as are the surrounding pubs, the market cross and the old town stocks.

Eyam is about 5.5 miles from the farm by road. Directions.
Eyam is famous as the Plague village, the Plague having been brought to the village by a tailor who had ordered cloth from London. The cloth was carrying the fleas that spread the plague. Several villagers died as a result and many villagers fled. The local museum has on display a history of that dreadful period.
Eyam has an active community providing many events during the year such as Well Dressing, a Plague Commemorative Service, annual carnival and sheep roast and an annual village show.

Glossop is about 18 miles from the farm by road.
Glossop is a former milltown and some of the earliest mills still survive. It is a busy town and is one of the largest in the area around the Peak Park. It also boasts a Bronze Age burial site.

Leek is about 22 miles from the farm by road. Directions.
Leek, once an old market town, became famous as a silk manufacturing and dyeing centre. It enjoys strong connections with famous designer William Morris(there is a trail in the town making an enjoyable and enlightening walk). There is also an indoor and an outdoor market which are active on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Matlock is about 24.5 miles from the farm by road. Directions.
Matlock along with nearby Matlock Bath and Matlock Bank are all situated along the River Derwent. Originally famous as Spa towns up to the turn of the 20th Century, the area now is popular for hill climbing and walking and for cavern exploring. The deep limestone gorge through which the river runs here is worth a visit.

Tideswell is 2 miles from the farm by road. Directions.
Tideswell is the closest settlement with a wide range of services including the local Coop supermarket, a great Deli, two Fish and Chip shops, Chemist, newsagent, builder's merchant, doctors, garages (not fuel, that's at Wardlow a couple of miles further on), several good pubs, the Post Office and the only village laundrette for miles! The village is steeped in history and makes an interesting visit on its own with the local Church being one of the largest village churches you'll come across, known locally as the Cathedral of the Peak.
